Description	:	Nellie Van Kekerix was born September 13, 1921 near Lyons, South Dakota. She grew up in the Lyons area where she received her education. On October 15, 1940, she was united in marriage with Herman Zacharias at Colton, SD. Following their marriage, the couple lived on a farm near Hartford for many years. Throughout her adult life, she worked at Hartford Produce, as a cook for Sunshine Foods, was the head cook for the Humboldt School, and then became manager of the Senior Citizens Nutrition in Hartford. She grew up in the Lyons area where she received her education. On October 15, 1940, she was united in marriage with Herman Zacharias at Colton, SD. Following their marriage, the couple lived on a farm near Hartford for many years. Throughout her adult life, she worked at Hartford Produce, as a cook for Sunshine Foods, was the head cook for the Humboldt School, and then became manager of the Senior Citizens Nutrition in Hartford. Her husband preceded her in death on March 5, 1986. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hartford, and the Hartford Senior Citizens Center. Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Jerry Zacharias of Sioux Falls, SD; her daughter, Bonnie (Duane “Butch”) Struck of Humboldt, SD; 9 grandchildren, Jeff Zacharias, Justin Zacharias, Jarad Zacharias, Sara Zacharias, Derek Zacharias, Andy Zacharias, Tammi Miles, Debbie Raap and Jesse Struck; 18 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Florence Van Kekerix of Colton, SD. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Kryne, Marinus, Bert and Harry; her sisters Jeanette and Cora; and her grandsons, Gary and Jason. Funeral services will begin 10:30 am Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church, Hartford, SD. Interment will be in the Hartford Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Hartford Chapel.
