William Hendrickson of Gibbon at the Arcadia Methodist Church Friday afternoon, December 30th. Burial was in the Lee Park cemetery. Nellie May Slingsby, the eldest daughter of William and Mary Slingsby, was born at Waukon, Wisconsin, March 16, 1876. She departed this life at the Sacred Heart hospital at Loup City, Nebraska, on December 27, 1955, at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 11 days. She moved with her parents to Custer county in the early days. Here she received her education and taught school a few years. She was united in marriage to David Collier of Arcadia on December 22, 1897. To this union three children were born: Mary J., deceased; Alfred D. and Alvin F. of Arcadia. Besides the immediate family she is survived by two sisters: Mrs. J.C. Mills of Ansley and Mrs. J. B. Mylie of Winside; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Her husband, her daughter, and three brothers preceded her in death. Nellie was a member of the Westerville Methodist Church. She joined the Rebekah Lodge December 20, 1905, being an active member 50 years. She was a faithful mother and a good neighbor to all who knew her. In her passing the whole community fells a great loss. Rev. Hendrickson is a former pastor of the Arcadia and Westerville Methodist Churches. He was pastor of the Collier family for several years and officiated at the funeral services of other members of the family.
