Description	:	Nellie Jager, age 98, of Huron, died Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at the SunQuest Healthcare Center. Her funeral service was Tuesday, November 22nd, at the First United Methodist Church. Read More	Nellie Jager, age 98, of Huron, died Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at the SunQuest Healthcare Center. Her funeral service was Tuesday, November 22nd, at the First United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Nellie Lobban was born August 27, 1918, to James and Ruby (Fawcett) Lobban at their farm in Cedar Township, Ree Heights. She attended rural school in Cedar Township, completing her freshman year there. Nellie was a member of Cedar Congregational Church where she was baptized. As a young girl, she worked for relatives and friends doing household duties and caring for small children. In 1940, Nellie moved to Alpena and continued doing housework for families who needed assistance. On April 2, 1946, she married August “Gus” Jager at the American Lutheran Church in Huron where she was a member until 1960. She then joined the Bethlehem United Church of Christ where she was a Sunday school teacher for several years and had served as president of the women’s fellowship. Nellie was a past president of the Parent-Teacher Association. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and had helped with the Junior Auxiliary Girls. Nellie and her husband, Gus, farmed in the Alpena area northwest of town. She was an outdoors person, and enjoyed working with the livestock and in the fields with her husband. Following her husband’s death on August 7, 1989, she continued living on the farm until October 1991, when she moved to Huron. In Huron, Nellie became a member of First United Methodist Church and was also an active member of the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed volunteering at the church and keeping in touch with the shut-ins and calling on the ill. Her grandchildren were very special to her and she always treasured times they spent together. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gus; her daughter, Donna Kopfmann; four sisters, Edna Hasart, Margaret Knippling, Christina Smith, and Allie Alice Lobban in infancy; and a brother, Alex Lobban. Grateful for having shared her life are her grandchildren, Amy and her husband, Jerrod Busch of Huron and Daniel and his wife, Carri Kopfmann of Mitchell; four great-grandchildren, Ashley Busch, Ethan Busch, Owen Kopfmann, and Carly Kopfmann; her son-in-law, Rev. Darwin (Terri) Kopfmann of Custer; a sister, Ruth Sivertsen of Ree Heights; a brother, James Lobban of Lakewood, Colorado; a sister-in-law, Leona Lobban of Longmont, Colorado; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
