Herndon and Sarah Rodgers OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, May 15, 1986 HESTON Nellie Newell Heston, daughter of David B. and Sarah Rodgers Herndon, was born February 12, 1893 in Clarke County, Iowa and passed away at the Chariton Manor on May 8, 1986, at the age of 93 years, two months and 26 days. All her life was spent in Clarke and Lucas counties. She was educated in the rural schools in Clarke County. She was one of Clarke County's teachers for four years. She was a longtime member of the Woodburn Christian Church. On March 26, 1916, she was married to J. Lewis Heston of near Lucas. To them were born two children, Russell of Burlington and Doris Whitlatch of Knoxville. In passing, she leaves her son and daughter, son-in-law, four granddaughters and their husbands, 10 great-grandchildren, two brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law, a number of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her husband and one grandson, her parents, one brother and one sister, eight brothers-in-law and six sisters-in-law. Mrs. Heston spent her life doing loving things for her family and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 13, 1986, at 1 p.m., at the Fielding Funeral Home with the Rev. Densmore Peterson officiating. Bearers were Dave Danner, Allen Heston, Jerry Danner, Daniel Danner, Herman Danner and Bill Thrasher. Interment was in the Ottawa Cemetery. Obituary courtesy of Darlene Arnold
