Hagerty, in Eden township, Carroll County, Iowa. Miss Shea was born at Iowa City, Johnson County, May 1857, at which place she spent the days of her childhood. Removing from there to Tama County, coming to this county five or six years ago. She had been a great sufferer for many months before death came to her release. Many eminent physicians had been employed but all in vain, her disease being that fatal malady, consumption. In all her sickness and pain she bore it with heroic Christian patience. Her indomitable will power kept her up when many would have succumbed. Miss Shea was a remarkably well gifted young person, possessing many traits of character worthy of emulation. Being a professional teacher her loss will more greatly be felt for ten years winter's storms and summer's heat has found her in the school room where she ever rendered effective and efficient service, attested by the fact that for five years she was employed in our neighborhood in Warren township. Her funeral took place Thursday, March 19th. The services were conducted by the Rev. Father Schulte at the Catholic Church at Templeton, and her remains were interred in the new cemetery at the latter place. A large concourse of friends and relatives followed her remains to their last resting place. The bereaved ones have the profound sympathy of this entire community.
