Read More	From the Gladwin County Record --- September 27, 1906 FATAL RUNAWAY ACCIDENT MISS NELLIE WOODRUFF LOSES HER LIFE THROUGH INJURIES IN A RUNAWAY The death of Miss Nellie Woodruff of Billings took place Wednesday from injuries sustained in a runaway Sunday. Three others, Warry I. Tripp of Hope, Miss Maud Hamill and, Willie Hamill of Billings were also injured, Miss Hamill the most seriously of the three. Mr. Tripp and Miss Hamill were out for a drive with a spirited team, and meeting Willie Hamill and Miss Woodruff took them in the buggy, Tripp's team became frightened by a team behind and Mr. Tripp was unable to manage his 2 and 3 yr. olds, which ran into a pile of stumps infront of A. Higgins' place and the passengers were thrown out. The buggy tongue was broken and the horses ran to George Kent's with the buggy when itbecame loose and they stopped. The same team ran away Monday in Hope with Mrs. W. Kent; no injuries. Miss Hamill is suffering from a fracture of the skull, large as a silver dollar, over right eye, and severe internal injuries. Mr. Tripp was cut in scalp and has a number of other bruises, Willie Hamill was cut in the scalp. Miss Woodruff, the deceased, had a fracture in the base of the brain. She was 14 years old and a daughter of Ed. Woodruff who was at Belding and had not been found by phone up to Wednesday, Dr. Pierce, the attending physician, reports the other patients improving.
