Nels Hanson, a young man whose parents live at Lake Forest, a suburb of Chicago, but who is well acquainted around Nevada, met an awful death when his life was ground out under the cruel wheels of a freight train on the night of August 19. Yesterday morning the remains accompanied by the heart-broken parents and brothers and sisters, arrived here and interment took place at the Nevada cemetery, after brief services by Rev. John Nelson Lentz, pastor of Memorial Lutheran church, at the grave. A large number of sorrowing relatives and friends had gathered to witness the interment and tender condolence to the bereaved ones. Young Hanson, but twenty-three years of age, with a couple of companions, had been over to another suburban town near Lake Forest attending a theater and had started to walk home along the tracks, when a freight train came along and the young men decided to board the train and ride to Lake Forest. The two companions managed to get safely aboard the train and did not notice Hanson slip and fall beneath the train. His body was badly mangled when found later. The unfortunate young man was a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hanson, of Lake Park, and nephew of Hans and Hannah Hanson and Mrs. Chris Rasmussen, of this city. He had visited and worked around here and was well and favorably known to many people of this neighborhood, especially the Danish people. He was a young man of excellent character and had a bright future before him. His untimely death causes a cloud of deep sorrow to gather about his family and friends. His two sisters were visiting with relatives in this city when the accident occurred and hurried at once back to Chicago but returned here with the remains.
