Description	:	Nels passed away Saturday, March 29 at Bethesda Nursing Home in Webster, where he had been a resident since May 1978. The funeral was held April 3, at 2 pm at the American Lutheran Church. The Rev. Harald Palm will officiate. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery. Pallbears will be Keith Nelson, Warren Barse, David Ohleen. Loren Loe, Oscar Akerson and Lawrence Sauer. Shawn Skeide will be organist with the Women's Choir singing. Shawn Skeide will be organist with the Women's Choir singing. Nels was born November 2, 1887 to Morten and Kjerste Mortenson in Borrby, Sweden. He came to America in 1902 and worked as a carpenter in Ortonville, Minn. for five years. In 1907 he moved to Webster. October 17, 1911 he married Anna Nelson at Webster. They lived in Webster except for two years in Canada and three years in Portland, Oregon. To this union five children were born.Mr. Martinson was a carpenter and contractor in Webster for over 50 years. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Gladys) Schmitt of Renton, Wash.; two sons Norman of Brownsville, Texas,; Fred of Webster; six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and two great great Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, one son, one daughter, his parents, five sisters and three brothers. from the Webster, Day County newspaper "The Reporter and Farmer". Nels Martinson was born in Borrby Sweden Nov. 1887. He immigrated to America April 1903. His Mother and Father and family stayed in Sweden. After a short stay in Minnesota he settled in Webster. In 1911 he married Anna Nelson she came to America in 1896 with her parents Anna Johnson and Nels Nelson. Nels and Anna had five children, two of them sons Norman and Fred Martinson. Norman and Fred worked with Nels. Many of the Main Street buildings and homes in and and around the area were built by them. Great Grandpa Nels once told me that I was lucky to have been able to play and do things with my brothers and sisters as he never did his, the boys learned at trade at an early age and the girls hired out as cooks and housekeepers or got married. added by Great Granddaughter Sherry Schmitt Byer
