Description	:	Nels Peterson is his American name. He was born Nils Pettersson, to Petter Olsson and Anna Nilsdotter. When he was just 14 when his father was murdered 5 Dec 1971 coming home with money received from selling grain. He was found dead beside the road with all money gone. He married Hanna Oldsdotter on December 27, 1879. August 19, 1883, Nels signed a contract to Allan Ship Line to bring himself, wife and their 2 children to the U.S. Hanna's parents came as well with their youngest son. Arriving in May of 1883. They first went Marcus, Iowa. By Dec 1883 they moved to Phelps County, Nebraska. Being 5 years to late for homestead. So he worked until he had enough money to buy land and build a home, this being by Feb. 23,1893. He farmed and his wife cared for their (now) 6 children. When his wife had a stroke and died in 1911. He sold off all of his farm equipment and much of the household things, being able to afford to. Later selling his land and home to his son-in-law in the 1920's. He just build a room on to the house and lived there until about 1927, when he went to live with another daughter and her husband in Hastings until the day that he died. Part of his obituary said that he had been afflicted with heart disease for a number of years but gradually grew worse. It also said that he had a quiet and peaceful nature. Was faithful memeber of the Westmark Evangelical Church and at various times served in the capacities of elder, chairman and seceteary. He was always ready to speak for his Lord and Savior. And that he was a kind and loving father. Only two of his children are being linked to him, since the others haven't been located to do so. Those missing are; Johanna "Hanna or Anna" Nilsdotter (1882-????), husband Albert L. Peterson (no relation to these Peterson's). Oscar Albert Peterson (1884-1957), wife Frances Mary Warren. Emma Amanda Peterson (1888-1948), husband Silas S. Samuelson. Alfred Ephran Peterson (1890-????), wife Pearl. (Maternal Great Great Grandfather to Gene M. Simmons)
