He was born October 17, 1921, in Defiance, to Claude W. and Cora (Shock) McMillen. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Dorothy (Edward) Fricke; his brother, Francis (Winnie) McMillen; and also a grandchild, David Nelson McMillen. Read More	Nelson G. "Bud" McMillen, 90, of Defiance was called by our heavenly Father God to be with him on March 8, 2012. He was born October 17, 1921, in Defiance, to Claude W. and Cora (Shock) McMillen. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Dorothy (Edward) Fricke; his brother, Francis (Winnie) McMillen; and also a grandchild, David Nelson McMillen. Bud married Martha Beulah Belden in 1941 and Belle Jean Weisenburger in 1980. He leaves his wife Jean of 32 years; sons, Dr. Larry (Lynnette) McMillen of Folsom, La., David (Secora) McMillen of Phoenix, Ariz., and Michael (Marcia) McMillen, Defiance; daughter, Vicky Thompson, Beebe, Arkansas; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jason, Michelle and Micah McMillen, Patricia Ferguson, Gerry, Danny and Christine Thompson and Jessica Loyed; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul (Jean Jackson) McMillen of Lima, Ohio; six nieces and nephews; and his two pets, Joey and Charlie, which he called his "four-legged boys." Bud was noted as being a very honest, kind and gentle person. He was a devoted father and husband who loved his family very much. Bud loved to go fishing in Grand Lake St. Marys and was a very good bowler and golfer. He was very active member for over 40 years in the Prop-Floppers model airplane club. Bud loved music and dancing and was also a life member of the Elks Lodge 147 of Defiance. Bud graduated from Defiance High School in 1939. He worked at Brown's Bakery in downtown Defiance while in high school and then for the Defiance Screw Machine Shop for 45 years, which later became the Precision Tool. He was noted as being an outstanding tool maker and also a foreman of the tool room. Bud was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Defiance for over 65 years. He taught Sunday school at St. Paul's and the old Gospel Temple. In addition, he was a longtime den "mother" and Boy Scout leader. Many have said that he was a very trustworthy and honest man who will be missed by many. Funeral services will be Monday, March 12, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 400 Wayne Ave., Defiance, with Rev. Michael Donnally officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery
