Description	:	Nelson York Dingley, 95, of West Farmington died after a short illness Monday at Franklin Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for two weeks. He was born here, son of Frank P. and Annie York Dingley, and attended local schools. He married Mary Ann Wilcox on April 10, 1926, in Madison. Mr. Dingley was a clerk at the Exchange Hotel for more than 20 years, then worked as custodian at the Farmington Community Center for 21 years. Read More	Nelson York Dingley, 95, of West Farmington died after a short illness Monday at Franklin Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for two weeks. He was born here, son of Frank P. and Annie York Dingley, and attended local schools. He married Mary Ann Wilcox on April 10, 1926, in Madison. Mr. Dingley was a clerk at the Exchange Hotel for more than 20 years, then worked as custodian at the Farmington Community Center for 21 years. He was a part-time postal clerk at the West Farmington post office for 23 years, retiring in 1965. He was an Army veteran of World War I and had received the Purple Heart. He also served as an aide to the governor of Maine to help represent WW I veterans. Mr. Dingley was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Farmington, the Roderick Crosby American Legion Post, Edwards Philbrick Barracks of Farmington and the Henderson Memorial Baptist Church, where he served as deacon. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Caroline Winch of Portland; six granddaughters, Mary Ann Currier, Suzanne Meserve, Joanne Thibodeau and Patricia Winch, all of Portland, Debra Winch of Gray and Faith Fenderson of Westbrook; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Henderson Memorial Baptist Church. The Rev. Esther Irish will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home.
