The daughter of Irwin and Junie Spillman Evans, she was born 18 Feb 1893 in the Blue Point area south of Grinnell. She attended rural schools in the Blue Point area and later in Searsboro. On 16 June 1916 she was married to Jake A Terpstra at Marshalltown, and following their marriage the couple farmed near Grinnell, later moving to the State Center area. Mr Terpstra died in 1961 and Mrs Terpstra returned to Grinnell in 1967. She is survived by her children: Mrs Ward (Eileen) Schmidt, Grinnell; Mrs Paul (Betty) Peterson, Newton; Mrs Barbara Holdsworth, New Sharon and Richard E Terpstra of Cedar Falls; 7 grandchildren ; 9 great grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs Blanche Saunders (Salem, OR), Mrs Cecyl Gustafson (Marshalltown) and Mrs Iola Trotter of Minneapolis, MN.
