She lived on the family farm for a few years before moving to Mitchell, SD where she grew up. She graduated from Mitchell High School. In 1928 Nettie moved to Sioux Falls, SD where she worked for John Morrell & Company for five years. She was a housekeeper for a short time before working as a waitress for Shriver's Tea Room and Fantle's Tea Room. Nettie worked in the cafeteria at Washington and Lincoln High Schools for 22 years before retiring in 1981. She was united in marriage with Hans C. Adler on April 25, 1934 in Canton, SD. Hans preceded her in death on July 25, 1990 after 56 years of marriage. Nettie was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Sioux Falls; Modern Woodmen; and the Golden Age Club. Grateful for having shared her life are many nieces and nephews including Grace Jennings, Sioux Falls, SD, Glenn Adler and his wife, Judy, Sioux Falls, SD; brother-in-law, Max Adler and his wife, Bonnie, Sioux Falls, SD; and special friends, Roger and Mary Brooks, Brandon, SD. In addition to her husband, Hans, Nettie was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Annabelle Wilson and Zora Metzger; and one brother, Bethel Cunningham. Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family for lunch and fellowship at Dow Rummel Village following the committal service. Memorials may be directed to Habitat for Humanity or the Sioux Falls Area Foundation.
