NORDSTROM Nettie Marie Shanks was born near Comstock, Custer county, Nebraska, December 17, 1901, and passed away suddenly at the home of her husband's parents, between Arcadia and Comstock, May 20, 1926, aged twenty-four years, five months and three days. She was the youngest of seventeen children. Her father was a veteran of the Civil War and died abut 18 years ago. Nettie grew to womanhood and fitted herself for a teacher but as her mother's health failed the daughter devoted her time to caring for and making a home for the mother. Nettie was united in marriage with David W. Nordstrom on February 28, 1925, and they moved to their own home, taking her mother with them and tenderly caring for her until she passed out of life about two months ago. Little did we think that the devoted daughter would so soon be reunited with her mother. Nettie's kind and affectionate nature and unselfish personality won for her a host of friends and she was loved by all who knew her. The grief is deep and painful, but we feel that she is a gem added to our treasures on the other side. She leaves to mourn her untimely and unexpected departure, her young husband and an infant daughter, six brothers and seven sisters, many other relatives and a host of friends. Her parents and three sisters preceded her to the world beyond. A short funeral service was held at the home at 2 pm Sunday, followed by an extended service at the Comstock church. Both services were conducted by Rev. W. A. Alcorn, of Arcadia. Interment was made in the Douglas Grove cemetery.
