He was born on Oct. 17, 1901, to Roy and Louisa Bell (Harmon) Seawel at Ingram, Ark. He was raised and educated in Maynard, Ark. Mr. Seawel served in the U.S. Navy from 1923 until 1927, aboard the USS Maryland. He played baseball in the U.S. Navy and continued playing semi-pro baseball as a pitcher after his honorable discharge. He married Marie Austin in 1927 in Seattle, where they made their first home. In 1933, they moved to the Monitor area, where Mr. Seawel worked in the fruit industry. He married Audrey Racus in December 1946 in Yakima and they continued to make their home in the Wenatchee area, where he worked as a builder with his father-in-law. He worked on the construction of Pioneer Middle School and Alcoa. He also worked as a security guard during the construction of Rocky Reach Dam. He later worked at the Independent Warehouse in Dryden from 1960 until 1975. Ed loved to garden and he loved sports, especially baseball. He moved to the Cashmere Convalescent Center in August 1993. He was a member of the Carpenter's Union and was a charter member of the Seattle Eagles Lodge. He is survived by his daughter, Cathy Berdan of East Wenatchee; his son, Wally Seawel of Chelan; his grandson, Tim Seawel of North Bend; his great-granddaughter, Carly Rae Seawel of Issaquah; his adopted granddaughter, Lodi Moore of Quincy; his adopted great-grandson, Adam Love of Quincy; four step-grandchildren, Siri Fadich, Allyn and Darrell Jeffries, all of East Wenatchee, and Kim Jeffries of Entiat; and two brothers, Clifford and Quimby, both of Maynard, Ark. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey, six brothers and three sisters.
