Description	:	Newell H. Butcher, 81, of Sioux City died Monday, May 27, 2002, at his residence following a lengthy illness. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Westlawn Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Emory Van Gerpen officiating. Private family graveside services will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Butcher was born March 14, 1921, in Onawa, Iowa, the son of Harry W. and Bessie (Rowland) Butcher. He attended school in Luton, Iowa and Sioux City. He was a longtime Sioux City resident. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, stationed in the South Pacific. He married Jacoba E. Krommenhoek on April 27, 1940, in Sioux City. He was employed with Robert's Dairy for 34 years. He was a member of Westlawn Presbyterian Church and loved to fish and hunt. Survivors include his wife, Jacoba; a son and his wife, Michael and Kathi Butcher of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Linda and Sonny Luft of Dakota City; a son-in-law, Bill Twohig of South Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Clarence and Goldie Butcher of Sioux City; two sisters, Florence and her husband, Gordie Hawn of Rockford, Ill., and Eileen Wolff of South Sioux City; five grandchildren, Tammy Williams, Brenda Braunger, Todd Powell, Brett Powell and Tony Butcher; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lois Twohig; his parents; two sisters, Lucille Lee and Doris Haire; and two brothers, Wayne McGee and Fred McGee. Memorials in his name may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland or Westlawn Presbyterian Church.
