Read More	NEWTON GRAVES PASSES AWAY Newton Gaines Graves, son of Clarence and Margaret Graves, was born April 7, 1880, in Saline County, Missouri and departed this life at the home of his daughter, Ethel Rees, at Dunlap, on July 7 1945, at 10:30 p.m. at the age of 65 years and 3 months. Mr. Graves was the second son of a family of six children, three of whom, brothers, have preceded him in death. In the fall of 1899 he came to Iowa, locating near Panama, where he was employed on a farm for seven years. On March 20, 1907, he was united in marriage at Dunlap to Myrtle Pryor. To this union were born the following children: Mrs. Velma Higgins, Woodbine; Mrs. Ethel Rees, Dunlap; Glenn Graves, San Bernardino, California; Eugene, deceased, and Mrs. Carmon Adams, Woodbine. In the spring of 1914, Mr. and Mrs. Graves purchased and moved on to the farm where they lived at the time of his death. On May 8 of this year, Mr. Graves was taken seriously ill and on May 11, he was removed to Mercy hospital at Council Bluffs where he received the best of medical aid. He was happy to be with his family and loved ones when on June 10, he was brought to the home of his daughter. He was a kind and loving husband and father, his first thoughts being always of his home and family. His friends and neighbors knew him as a generous, helpful and true friend. At the time of his death, he was a faithful member of the First Methodist Church, Dunlap, a relationship he cherished for over thirty years. He truly lived a consistent Christian life. Besides his striken widow, and children mentioned above, he also leaves to mourn his passing, two sisters, Mrs. Etta Woodley, San Francisco, California, and Mrs. Anna Hammond, Westwood, California; 11 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services, under the direction of the Wood Funeral Home, were conducted at the First Methodist Church, on Tuesday, by the Rev. Louis Henre Joslin. Interment was made in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The singers were Mrs. Jay Widney and Mrs. R. A. Williams, accompanied by Mrs. M. J. Miles. Pallbearers were Russell Bolton, Lloyd Dougal, Dean Brewster, Wendell Grady, Lloyd Lyman and Lloyd Koski.
