Was Proprietor of the First Drug Store That Was Opened in This City - Funeral Tomorrow Afternoon. Newton Hover, one of the oldest pioneers of this city and county and for many years one of the most prominent and prosperous farmers in Shawnee township, died at his home about three miles southwest of this city at 6:30 o'clock last evening, his death being due to the ravages of a cancer. The funeral services will be held at the Shawnee church at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon and the remains will be consigned to rest in the Shawnee cemetery. The deceased was born December 18, 1820, and came to this county in 1833. He had the distinction of being one of the first physicians in this city and opened the first drug store that was ever conducted in Lima. He is survived by two sons, F. H. Hover, of Shawnee township, and J. J. Hover, of this city. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Lathrop, of Amanda township, and one brother, W. U. Hover, of Denver, Colorado. The relatives of the deceased request that no flowers be sent. Published in The Lima Times-Democrat (Lima, Ohio) - Thursday, July 10, 1902.
