Description	:	NEWTON SPENCER Newton Spencer, son of John and Martha Spencer, was born in Van Buren County, November 26, 1867 and passed away in the Iowa City hospital April 21, 1945 at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 5 days. He was united in marriage to Carrie Davis on December 22, 1888. To this union were born three daughters, two dying in infancy. Ether Anderson of Keosauqua survives. He also leaves 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and one brother, George Spencer of Douds. Although for some time he has been in ill health, he was cheerful through it all, expressing a great desire to carry on. His friends and neighbors will always remember him as one who lived by the Golden Rule. His sudden departure has been a great blow to the community.
