Parents were Peter Goetzinger (1817-1861) and Maria Magdalen Ernster (1819-1905). He arrived in the port of New York City on June 11, 1867 aboard the "Ja Stamler" along with his mother, Maria, and five siblings. They were the parents of twelve children; nine growing to adulthood. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Obituary of Nicholas Goetzinger Nicholas Goetzinger died at his home here Sunday morning at 8 o'clock after having been sick for the last five weeks. Saturday he felt especially well and death came very sudden. He died of a stroke of paralysis. Mr. Goetzinger was well known in this vicinity and had many friends. He was a devout member of the Catholic church and well prepared with the last sacraments. Mr. Goetzinger was born in Luxemburg, Germany, January 15, 1851 and came to America in 1867 at the age of 16 years and located at Luxemburg, Ia., where he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Friedman. They moved to Roselle, Ia., where they resided until the year 1896 when they purchased a farm near Templeton, where they remained until they retired in 1913. Twelve children were born to this union, two having preceded their father in death: Elizabeth, who died at the age of four years, and Mathew at the age of 27 years. The living children are John, of Seattle, Wash.; Joseph, of Defiance; William, of Petersburg, Neb., Anton and Nicholas, of Dedham; Peter, Frank and Margaret, Mrs. Henry Rienlander, of Templeton; Bernard, who is attending St. Joseph college, at Des Moines. Funeral services were held at the Sacred Heart church Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock. A solemn high mass was said by Rev. Charles Goetz~ inger celebrant; Rev.William Goetzinger deacon, and Rev. Joseph Undeerberg, sub~deacon. Rev. Father Huessman assisted at the altar. Internment was made in the Sacred Heart cemetery. Those from a distance attending the funeral were: Rev.
