Description	:	Nicholas Manders, son of Champier and Anna Manders was born two and one half miles south of Waukee, Iowa, on October 14, 1866, and passed away at the home of his son, Ralph, near Waukee, on March 4, 1938, at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 18 days. He was one of a family of eleven children. His childhood and youth,as well as the years of his maturity, were spent in this community. He attended school at the Snyder school house in Boone Township. He was one of a family of eleven children. His childhood and youth,as well as the years of his maturity, were spent in this community. He attended school at the Snyder school house in Boone Township. On December 17, 1889 he was united in marriage to Lillie Belle Flinn. To this union were born five children. Three of whom survive their parents. Two proceded them, Charles, who died in infancy and Florence who died in 1914. His wife passed away on April 21, 1933. He leaves to mourn his going one sister, Mrs. Kate Rippey, of Adel; three sons, Roy, Ralph and Kenneth, seven grandchildren, Dorothy, Harold, Lucille, Betty Jane, Charles, Mary Ann, and Charlene and one great grandchild Edwin Chapton, as well as many other relatives, neighbors and long-time friends. His recent illness extended over a period of one year, during which time he suffered much. Every minister that loving hands could perform was given him that his suffering might be alleviated and his last days made as comfortable as possible. He was a home lover and his family was his first thought. He was a kind and good neighbor who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
