Funeral services were held Saturday, June 21, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Mike Take officiating and Msgr. Heels co-celebrating. Serving as lector was Pat Duffy, serving as offertory gift bearers were granddaughters. Serving as casket bearers were grandsons, William Brown, Larry Brown, Mike Burns, Dave Burns, Ricky Miller, Rob Miller and Luke Sinner. Burial was in St. Boniface Cemetery in Ionia. Nick Miller was born June 29, 1902, the son of Anthony and Barbara (Deffenbaugh) Muller. He attended schools in Germany and after arriving in the United States, he married Dorothy Schmitz on Sept 19, 1927 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Ionia. He had farmed in the Ionia area and was a retired Rath worker. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, four daughters, Mrs. Delmar Brown of New Hampton, Mrs. William Burns of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Robert Burns of Cedar Rapids, and Doris Miller of Elm Springs, AR., one son, Robert of Minneapolis; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marie of Zefferweich, Germany. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Bernard and Francis, and one sister and three brothers. A Rosary Society rosary was held at 4 p.m., a CD of A rosary at 7 p.m. and a parish scripture service at 8 p.m. on Friday, at Larkin-Martin Funeral Home in New Hampton.
