Simpson, the oldest in a family of nine children, four brothers and five sisters, was born in Syracuse, N.Y., in 1844. At the age of seven years he went with the family to Iowa, living at Clinton, and in 1865, at the age of 21, was united in marriage to Miss Martha Gear, of Muscatine, Iowa. To this union ten children were born, eight of whom are still living. In 1886 he came to Kansas where he has since made his home, having spent the last 20 years in Abilene. He pased away last Saturday, June 7, 1919, having seen the many changes wrought out in our country in three-quarters of a century. He is survived by three brothers, the oldest, R.E. Simpson of Ashland, Neb., being present at the funeral; two sisters and also his wife and eight children. Funeral service was conducted at the Simpson home on North 14th street by Rev. Troy P. Hess, of the Christian church, June 10, and burial made in the Abilene cemetery.
