Burial was made in our Silent City. Blanche Liesman was born in Kellogg September 27, 1897, the eldest daughter of Dr. and Mrs. B. Liesman. Her girlhood days were spent here and she was a graduate from the Newton high school in 1915. She attended State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, the State University in Iowa City, Drake University at Des Moines, and the University of California in preparation for teaching and served as instructor in the schools here, Grinnell, Newton, Council Bluffs, Iowa and at Hammond Indiana. She was united in marriage to David Canaday at Hammond July 13, 1931, and had made her home there since that time. She was preceded in death by her father, who died January 18, 1935. Surviving relatives include her husband; her mother, Mrs. Mamie Liesman of this place; two sisters, Miss Bertha and Miss Ruth of Des Moines; two brothers, Bruce of this place and Max, student at State University of Iowa.
