The following obituary was printed in the Beaver Crossing Times on Thursday, Dec. 24, 1942; pg. 1 Nis Biltoft was born in Denmark, March 2, in the year 1859, and died on December 15, 1942 at Alliance, Nebraska; aged 83 years, 9 months, and 13 days. He came to Nebraska when he was 20 years old and worked as a farm hand for several years. He then started farming and stock raising. He was married to Catherine Johnson on December 23, 1883. To this union seven children were born. In the year of 1900 his wife died leaving him the family to be cared for. In 1921 he moved to western Nebraska and farmed near Alliance for several years. He then retired to town and spent part of his time traveling. He is survived by seven children: E.R. Biltoft, Beaver Crossing; Lou Biltoft, Alliance; Anna Dygert, Beaver Crossing; Lena Binkley, Portland, Oregon; Amelia Harshey, Portland, Oregon; Gertrude Steffensen, Chadron; and Rose Biltoft, Portland, Oregon. There are ten grand children and 12 great grandchildren. Sunset and evening star and one last call for me And may there be no moaning At the bar when I set out to sea. Funeral services was held at Alliance on Thursday and further service on Friday at Beaver Crossing in the Methodist Church at 2:30, P.M. the Pastor, Rev. E.W. Price conducting the service. Music was furnished by a mixed Quartet, Mesdames L.G. Gabe. and H.W. Pettijohn, Messrs. Mark E. Whitney and Harry Cross, with Mrs. E.W. Price as accompanist. They sand two numbers, "Rock of Ages", and "Saved by Grace". Burial in the family lot in Leland cemetery. Those attending the funeral from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Carl Steffensen of Chadron; Mr. and Mrs. Lou Biltoft of Alliance; Jep Paulsen, Oshkosh; Mrs. Helen Biltoft, Mr. and Mrs. John Biltoft, Mr. Nis Biltoft, Superior; Elmer, Olga, and Bertha Anderson, Hardy; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Biltoft, Ruskin; Mr. and Mrs. Morris Biltoft, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Biltoft, Oak. Four of the seven children were able to attend; two sons and two daughters. Three dauhters (sic) were unable to attend because of transportation difficulties. They were Mrs. Binkley, Mrs. Harshey and Miss Rose Biltoft of Portland, Oregon. You cannot say, You must not say That he is dead. He is just away! With a cheery smile, and a wave of the hand He has wandered into an unknown land And left us dreaming how very fair It needs must be, since he lingers there; So think of him faring on, as dear In the love of There as the love of Here, Think of him still as the same, and say He is not dead, he is just away!
