Description	:	' Nis Hansen Sr was born in 1859 in Denmark, and when he was 14 years old he migrated on his own to the United States and settled 1st in Sonoma County, California where his brother L Hanson had settled. Several years later he moved to Kings County and settled in the Mussel Slough district. In partnership with his brother, they were in the cattle business together for about five years. Read More	' Nis Hansen Sr was born in 1859 in Denmark, and when he was 14 years old he migrated on his own to the United States and settled 1st in Sonoma County, California where his brother L Hanson had settled. Several years later he moved to Kings County and settled in the Mussel Slough district. In partnership with his brother, they were in the cattle business together for about five years. He was married 1st on September 15, 1886 in Tulare County, California to Josephine Hutton (1866–1890). He was married 2nd to Jennie Louise Dickinson (1869–1898), and he was married 3rd in 1904 to Minnie Diantha Hough (1878–1946). Nis was one of the pioneer developers in the Tulare Lake Basin, and as early as 1905 he purchased land in that area, and from then on until he passed away his main activities were in that part of the county. In 1918 he sold his property in Armona, and later purchased four sections in Tulare Lake. He was helped organize the Corcoran Irrigation District, and was it's 1st president. He was particularly interested in the Seventh Day Adventist Church and was an extremely liberal supporter of the church, assisting as he did many young men to attend the medical school that was affiliated with the Seventh Day Adventists in Loma Linda and Los Angeles. Nis was 80 years old when he passed away on August 5, 1939, and he was buried in Grangeville Cemetery in Kings County.
