At the age of five, she moved to Sioux Falls, SD. Nita graduated from Washington High School in 1940. Nita was united in marriage with Kermit W. Hoover on April 13, 1941 at Sioux Falls. They made their home in Sioux Falls. The couple moved to Canton, SD where they owned and operated the bowling alley for four years. They then moved back to Sioux Falls. She worked at John Morrell and Co. and Lorenz Accounting Office, and also was a bookkeeper at Holger Anderson Truck Stop. Nita was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was secretary of the Renner Community Club for many years and a volunteer for the Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce for over 20 years. Nita was also an active member of the Sioux Empire Kennel Club for over 30 years and in 1993 she was awarded a lifetime membership. She actively taught dog training classes as well as showed her own dogs. In 1976 Nita received the Gaines Medal Award. Grateful for having shared her life are her cousin, Eleanor Neisteadt and her husband, Bill, Sioux Falls, SD; a stepdaughter, Marlys Bakker and her husband, Simon, Hudson, SD; two stepsons, Bill Hoover, Pitkin, LA, Bob Orcutt and his wife, JoAnn, Volga, SD; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Nita was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit, on April 29, 1995; two stepdaughters, Audrey Leiferman and Evon Drew; and her parents.
