A lifelong resident of the Black Jack community in Pitt County, Noah J. was born on April 5, 1931, to Scott and Rose Hardee Buck. Read More	GREENVILLE - Noah J. Buck, 90, died Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Vidant Medical Center. A lifelong resident of the Black Jack community in Pitt County, Noah J. was born on April 5, 1931, to Scott and Rose Hardee Buck. He graduated from Chicod High School and attended Smithdeal Massey Business College (Va.) and East Carolina University prior to enlisting in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He spent most of his enlistment based in Germany, serving as a radio/radar operator on high-altitude reconnaissance flights along the Iron Curtain. He then returned to help run the family farm before embarking on a 26-year career with the J.H. Hudson Construction Company, retiring in 1996 as vice president. A lifelong member of the Black Jack OFWB Church, Noah J. was a man of strong Christian faith. He took joy in helping and mentoring others and was extraordinarily devoted to his extended family and many friends. He served as a boy scout leader, on the Pitt County Farmers Home Administration board, and as a member of the Pitt County Development Commission, chairing its Site and Building Committee. As long as his health allowed, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time in his workshop. In addition to his parents, Noah J. was preceded in death by two loving wives, Mary Lou Clarke Buck and Ann Hudson Buck; a daughter, Karen Buck James; and brothers Bobby and Melvin. He is survived his daughter; three stepdaughters; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson. He also leaves behind his two sisters. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 3:00 PM in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel, officiated by the Reverend Phillip Boykin. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 to 2:45 PM at the funeral home.
