Solon, Va., a son of Mr. and Mrs. George Baker. He came to Iowa in 1929, and for the past 22 years had lived at 414 East Sixth Street, Carroll. His marriage to Mary B. Beyer took place June 1, 1943, at Carroll. He was a member of Holy Spirit parish and the Loyal Order of Moose. An employee of the City of Carroll, he retired in 1962. Surviving are his wife; one son, Carroll N. Baker of Spokane, Wash.; five step-children: Leonard Beyer, El Cajon, Calif.; Mrs. Marita Campbell, Azuza, Calif.; Mrs. Ruth Guthrie, Sierra Madre, Calif.; Roland Beyer, Chula Vista, Calif.; and Leo R. Beyer, Memphis, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Alice Snodgrass, Williamson, W. Va.; and one brother, Fred Baker, Churchville, Va. Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his first wife, Emma Messerall, in 1927, and by four sisters.
