Eureka Herald In Greenwood Co Kansas issue-27Oct1893 under Fall River Items: "From the Elma (Wash.) Eagle. received by E Chilcote, we learn that Noah Taylor, a former citizen of this county,, died at that place on September 11. He was a resident of this county for sixteen years, going to Washington State in 1882. He is spoken of by the Eagle as having been a model and worthy citizen." 2. The Weekly... I haven't located the publication Elma Eagle in the Washington state archives so far. My husband is descended from Noah's oldest son John Taylor d 1919 in Neodasha, Wilson Co KS->William Oliver Taylor b1871->Jesse Ellis Taylor b1899->Douglas J b in 1918-my husband b 1951 [Durina Taylor] After the death of Sarah, Noah married Evaline Terrell (b 1821 Champaign, OH to Matthew Terrell and Eppy Connell - the Terrells and Taylors had traveled together for generations). Evaline was the widow of Peter McGowan. Evaline and Noah married 6 Feb 1853 in Champaign and they with Noah's son John and Evaline's 3 McGowan children moved to Coles county, IL. My grandmother, Sarah Elizabeth Taylor was born in Matton, Coles, IL 8 Jan 1857. Evaline died prior to 9 Mar 1858 (when Noah married Ruth Ann White), two of her McGowan children were sent back to the Terrell family and the third child must have died as well. Sarah walked to Greenwood Co, Kansas with her father, step mother, brothers and sisters. She and John were the only two children to stay in Kansas. According to the Fall River Times, the Thompson family, Taylors, Rev Gable, J Edwards and the Kinnamans left for Oregon around Oct 22 1882 [contributor: [email protected]]
