McKinney officiated. Johnsons Funeral Home of Belmond was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the family lot in the Ell township cemetery, Klemme. Pallbearers were Ted Meyer, Dick Dirks, Glen Schlichting, Wilbur Lieberknecht, John Aaften and George Eckhoff. Mrs. Spitler died Tuesday after a long illness at her home in Belmond where she had lived for many years. Nora Ann Kershner, daughter of Jacob and Emma Moon Kershner, Wichita, Kansas, was born December 25, 1876. When she was 15 years of age she came with her family to Iowa and they settled near Goldfield. On August 12, 1896 she and John Spitler were united in marriage and established their home on a farm near Clarion. Three children were born to this union. After 19 years they moved to a farm east of Klemme where they lived for four years. One year they spent on the farm where their son Howard now lives, and one year in Klemme. They then went back to a farm near Belmond and after five years they retired and moved into the home they had purchased in Belmond. Surviving are her husband, two sons, Howard, Garner and John Jr., Belmond. One foster daughter, Mrs. Lee (Evelyn) Luick, Mason City, six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
