Diehl, in Poweshiek County, Iowa, on Sept. 23, 1872, where she grew to womanhood, receiving her education in Warren Township district school No. 6 in Carnforth. At the age of 21 years she was united in marriage on Dec. 25, 1893 to Mike Jacobs of Hagerstown, MD., and last winter the couple was privileged to celebrate their 64th wedding anniversary. To this union two sons were born: Emerson C., now living in Great Falls, MT., an Paul F., who is living in Monrovia, CA. Emerson and wife are the parents of two daughters, Beverly Ann and Marcia Lee, who are her only grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs engaged in farming for five years before moving to Victor on March 1, 1898, where Mr. Jacobs was employed in the local lumber years for about forty years. Mrs. Jacobs united with the First Congregational church in July 1965 during the pastorate of the Rev. Roscoe Douglass. Mrs. Jacobs took an active part in the work of the church, serving as a teacher and pianist in the Sunday School. During the pastorate of the Rev. William Maxwell, she had charge of the largest cradle roll in the history of the Victor church. Mrs. Jacobs gave very generously of her time and talent in music to assist in providing music for various affairs in the church. She joined the Rebekah lodge in 1910 and served as pianist for a number of years, and later on she worked on the degree staff as conductor. She held various offices and was a charter member of the Past Noble Grand Circle. Mrs. Jacobs affiliated with the Order of Eastern Star, serving as worth matron in 1923. She was always interested in any good work that she thought would benefit the community in which she lived. She worked in the local institute of the W.C.T.U., serving as president for five years or more. When the Victor woman's Club was organized in 1928, she entered as a charter member and was active in its program until her health began to fail. Mrs. Jacobs lived in Victor until 1950, when she moved with her husband to California, and in July of 1957 to Montana. She passed away in Great Falls, MT., on Tuesday, June 10, 1958 at the age of 85 years, 8 months and 17 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters. She leaves to mourn, her husband, two sons, two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She was a faithful wife, a good mother, and a loyal friend to her associates in the various organizations in which she worked. Funeral services for the deceased were held in Victor, Iowa on Friday, June 13, at the McAninch Chapel, with the Rev. N. F. Grote, pastor of the First Methodist church officiating. Mrs. George Montgomery sang two consoling hymns, "Rock of Ages" and "In the Garden," accompanied by Mrs. Lyman at the organ. Rebekah rites were conducted by Mrs. Ed Bushnell, Mrs. Robert Tanner, and Mrs. E. L. McAninch, with Mrs. David Foster singing "Beautiful Isle." Mrs. Bushnell and Mrs. Tanner also took care of the flowers. Members of the Victor chapter O.E.S. also attended in a body. The pallbearers were Harry Muller, Henry Wahl, Rex Foster, George Nace, H. L. Schrader and William Refer. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Victor.
