Nora grew up on the ranch northwest of Buffalo and attended school in Buffalo through high school. She was a cheerleader for the ball games while in high school. She attended Black Hills State University for one summer and taught at Karinen School for one year.She married Ken Boyer on February 3, 1951, of which, three children were born, Guyla Powers, Douglas Boyer and Bryan Boyer. She worked at the JC Penney store in Spearfish for four years while Ken attended college there. She moved to Brookings when Ken got transferred there as manager of Job Service. While there, they bought an acreage and lived in the Country, which she enjoyed. While there, she worked at Gold Bond Store until they quit the business. They moved back to Buffalo in 1993, where she campaigned to save a one-room house, which she accomplished. She volunteered as a curator for the museum and one-room school for the next 20 years. She loved the history of the Harding County area. She was a member of Eastern Star for 63 years.She was preceded in death by one son, Douglas; her parents, Fred Lamphere and Helen Swenson-Lamphere; her brothers, Oakley, Regnald, Irwin and Clint Lamphere; her sisters, Lois Evers, Inez Tuovinen and Eris Heggem.She is survived by her husband, Ken; a daughter, Guyla (Lee) Powers; a son, Bryan Boyer; one grandchild; and one great grandchild.Memorial services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, April 10, 2014 at the Cedar Branch Lodge #179 AF & AM Masonic Temple in Buffalo with Rev. Gail Arnold officiating. A special Memorial service will also be performed by the Grand River Club #162 Order of the Eastern Star.Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Buffalo Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Buffalo Museum and The One Room School
