Description	:	On May 31, 2009, God called Nora Hartman Linder at the age of 103 home. He thought it best. Mom was the junior child of four daughters born to Daniel and Nancy Parks Hartman. She also had three half sisters and four half brothers from Daniel Hartman's first marriage. Her employment record dated 6/01/1917 from the Salisbury Mill, gives the age of applicant as twelve (12) years old and date of birth 6/07/1905. She retired 6/07/1972 at the age of sixty five. Survivors include, sons, James "Sarge" Linder and wife Nema, Willis "Whit" Linder and wife Dorothy; grandchildren, Karen Linder Sebastian and Husband Steve, Kelly Linder Carter and husband Gary, Cheryl Linder, Robbie Linder and wife Angela; great-grandchildren, Lindsey Sebastian, Ashley Sebastian, Chelsey Sebastian, Jacob Carter, Cameron Carter, Alexandra Linder, and James Robert Linder. Mom was a life long member of Colburn Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a real daughter of the confederacy, and a member of Robert F. Hoke, Chapter 78 UDC Salisbury, NC. The Linder Children express their grateful acknowledgement to one of their own, Virginia Pepper Linder (deceased), for her many years as guardian and companion to their mother. Expressions of appreciation are extended to genesis nursing and assisted living home and staff for their thoughtful and loving care to mom during the last years of her life. A special thanks to Dawn, Kathy, Mary, Sandy, and Henry. Mom loved you. Mom having worked with her hands for fifty three years, developed a strength and dexterity in them. As she guided them across the keyboard of an old upright piano, sensory transmitting the attributes of her love of life, giving the music warmth, a softness, a depth, that tones alone can never produce or achieve. Having discovered the magic in books, she became an avid reader. We deem it appropriate to quote in part form her favorite book: "She seeketh wool and flax and worketh willingly with her hands, she riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household and a portion to her maidens. She layeth her hands to the spindle and her hands hold the distaff. Her children arise up, and call her blessed." The same book tells us there is a time and place for all things: A time when we enter this great unknown world and we sleep our first morning's sleep after it's long night of darkness and a smile plays over our lips while the angel of life whispers a message of guidance, along our way, and we open our eyes to our new world, A time when as a child we build our own make belief worlds, a world of far away places, a world of errantancy, A time for the learning fields, the playing fields to build strong minds and strong bodies to cross over the threshold to adulthood, A time to hone our tools for work and play, A time to strive, to seek and sometimes to yield as we reach for our goals, A time to pause and look back and touch the shadows of our past, A time to bury our indiscretions, and transgressions here deep in the earthy sea of mercy, A time to close our eyes and pass over a cross, A time to go home. Mom is home now. She is now a part of the past, the mountains, the sea, the sky and all that she met. A heart that beats beyond its given years, like the last leaf on a tree in the spring, pushed free to make room for a new leaf, a new beginning, a new world, a life not measures by time. A Service in Remembrance of Her Life: 11:00 AM – Tuesday – June 2, at Coburn United Methodist Church with Rev. AnnaLee Allen officiating. Burial will be at the Chestnut Hill Cemetery at the Linder Family Plot. Service of Interment will be conducted by Rev. AnnaLee Allen of Coburn Memorial United Methodist Church. Memorial to Coburn Memorial United Methodist Church, 901 South Church Street, Salisbury, NC 28144. Lyerly Funeral Home is assisting the Linder family.
