Monday at the St. Mark Catholic Church in Iowa Falls with burial in the church cemetery. On Sunday there will be a 3 P.M. Rosary at the St. Mark Catholic Church with visitation to follow until 6 P.M. when there will be a Scripture Service and a Time of Remembrance. Nora (Peg) Kathryn O'Reilly Oppold was born August 21, 1918 in Owasa to Philip and Mary Smyth O'Reilly. She was raised in the Owasa area, graduated in 1936, attended Ellsworth Jr College and later taught school locally. She married Francis Oppold Sr October 24, 1943 in Berkeley, California when he was stationed there during WWII. Following the war they returned to the Ackley area in 1945 and farmed the Oppold home place until 1954 when they purchased a farm in the Lee Center area. She was a lifelong Catholic and always very proud of her faith and church and was always active in all phases of the church teaching catechism, taking Communion to the shut ins and participating in small group faith activities. She was an avid bridge player and participated in the Ellsworth Hospital bridge marathon for many years. In 1977 she and Francis purchased a home in Florida where they made their winter home for 6 months every year. They were members of St Charles Borromeo Church in Port Charlotte, FL. Peg loved to care for others and was a great hostess who loved to set a pretty table and welcome all guests. They especially enjoyed family and friends from up north trying to escape the winter in Florida. In addition to her own large family, she opened her home to numerous foster children over the years. She is survived by 8 children--Patricia (Glenn) Knust of Grand Island, NE; Tom (Kate) of Toledo, OH; Mary (Joe) Bruzdzinski of Naperville, IL; Mark (Kathi Anderson) of Overland Park, KS; Frank (Fran Pierce) of Ames, IA; Phil (Lois Mills) of Iowa Falls; Nora A'Bell of Denver, CO; and Joan (Jack) Gray of Johnston, IA, 28 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 66 years, Francis in 2010, sisters Mary Margaret O'Reilly and Ann Nelson, brother Sylvester O'Reilly and her grandson, Andrew Oppold.
