Born in Defiance County on June 2, 1928, to Margaret (Zimmerman) and Richard Mangas, he was married to Grace L. Grimes in 1956, and she survives. Read More	DEFIANCE - Norbert L. Mangas, 72, of Defiance, died Sunday morning, Oct. 15, 2000, in the Community Hospitals of Williams County in Bryan. Born in Defiance County on June 2, 1928, to Margaret (Zimmerman) and Richard Mangas, he was married to Grace L. Grimes in 1956, and she survives. An Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was a member of the St. MichaelÕs Catholic Church. In addition to farming, he worked as a mechanic at Campbell Soup for 26 years, until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Bishop Rappe Assembly No. 824 4th Degree, Knights of Columbus Msgr. Long 1039 Council, and a member of the American Legion Post No. 117. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are four sons, Michael Mangas of Deshler, Joseph Mangas of Bolivia, South America, Nicholas Mangas and Gregory Mangas, both of Defiance; a daughter, Mrs. Rick (Margaret) Wilson of Federal Way, Wash.; a brother, John Mangas of Knoxville, Tenn; and five grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Ambrose Mangas; and a sister, Mary Seibert. Visiting hours will be from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home in Defiance. A vigil service will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Michael's Catholic Church in Defiance, with Father David Tscherne officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Defiance County. Memorials may be made to Hospice, the Caring Way, of Defiance County, or to the St. Michael's Help Fund.
