The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 7, at 10:30 AM, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 14 miles North, with Rev. Brad Birtell officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Wednesday, from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. Norbert was born on July 7, 1924, in Creston, Nebraska, to George and Eugenie (Hellbusch) Theilen. He was baptized, confirmed, and a member at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Norbert was united in marriage to Fern Ruby Engelbart on April 24, 1946. Norbert and Fern lived on a farm south of Creston until the early 1980’s when they moved to Columbus. Norbert loved his wife of 73 years, kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. He also enjoyed farming, woodworking, and doing home improvements for others, and had his own business called Theilen Construction.
