Description	:	Norene Evelyn McNea, age 88 of Bottineau, died Monday at a Bottineau hospital. Funeral will be held on Thursday at 2:00 pm at the United Parish in Bottineau. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm with a prayer service at 6:30 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Burial will be at the Oak Creek Cemetery in Bottineau. Norene Evelyn (Hagen) McNea, was born on June 30, 1925 to Gilbert and Mary (Gibbs) Hagen in Willow Vale Township. As a young child, she had a love of horses and could ride a horse standing on the horse's back. In 1941, she met and started dating Floyd McNea. She graduated from Omemee High School in 1943 and on September 28, 1943 she and Floyd were married. Norene received her teacher's certification and began teaching at several township schools while Floyd served in Europe during World War II. When Floyd returned from the service, they farmed for several years before moving to Wahpeton while Floyd attended school. They lived in Mayville for 3 years. In 1956, they moved back to Bottineau and Floyd started Mac's Body Shop. Norene worked as a clerk at Red Owl and later Piggly-Wiggly all while raising 6 children. In 1975, she became a deputy for the Bottineau County Sheriff's Department until retiring in 1988. Norene committed her life to her family and friends. She worked side by side with Floyd raising cattle, horses and their children. She was a member of the United Parish in Bottineau and the VFW Women's Auxiliary. She was active as a 4-H leader as her children were growing. She was also a charter member of the Bottineau County Trail Riders and organized many horse shows. The coffee pot was always on and the home they made was always full of company and family. Norene passed away on Monday, July 8, 2013 at a Bottineau hospital. She is survived by her husband, Floyd of Bottineau; 3 daughters, Carolle (Ronnald) Tennancour, Rhonda (Paul) Milbrath and Debra (Marc) Nelson all of Bottineau; 3 sons, Gary (Linda) McNea of Bottineau, Melvin (Michelle) McNea of North Platte, NE and Jeff McNea of Bottineau. 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 step-great grandchild; 1 great-great grandchild; 2 step great-great grandchildren; sister, Marlyce (Ray) Cole of Valley City; sisters-in-law, Jean McNea of Billings, MT, Marilyn McNea of Longmont, CO and Joyce Hicks of Ellis Ville, MO and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Hagen; sister, Lora Kongslie; 1 great grandchild, MaKenzie Milbrath and a step great grandchild, Wade Waagen.
