Banks, which occurred at St. Mary's Hospital, Russellville, Sunday, November 7th, 1948, brought profound sorrow not only to members of her family and other relatives, but also to all who knew this splendid, kindly, lovable woman and her beautiful Christian character. The funeral service, conducted by Rev. C, Everett Patton, assisted by rev. John Bingaman, was held at the Oak Grove Church four miles west of Dardanelle, near which the Banks family has for years resided, and in spite of extremely inclement weather and muddy roads, the church house was far too small to accommodate the large assemblage of friends and neighbors who came to pay a last sad tribute of love and devotion to the noble woman whose life and labors had for many years blessed and enriched her community. Besides her husband, Mrs. Banks is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Ernest Choate, of Chickalah; Mrs. James Myers, of North Little Rock; Mrs. Pete Gooch and Mrs. William Brashears, of Dardanelle; and Mrs. Charles Pratt, of Carlsbad, N. M.; five sons, Louis, Arthur Lee and Dana, of Dardanelle, Lowell, of Landis, N. C., and Lindell, of Fort Smith; four sisters, Mrs. Ed McClure and Mrs. Abe Pledger, of Dardanelle, Mrs Mettie Haney, of Carlsbad, N. M., and Mrs. Melba Jenkins, of Little Rock, and three brothers, Ollie Weems, of California, and Opa and Lloyd , of Carlsbad, N. M. Funeral directions were under the Cornwell Funeral Home, Dardanelle. The Post-Dispatch joins in paying sincere tribute to the departed wife and mother, and in extending deepest sympathy to the loved ones she leaves behind.
