Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. She was born Norma Eileen Ware on March 9, 1928, in Atchison, the daughter of Archie Dutch and Rachel Emma (Chittenden) Ware. She was a 1946 graduate of Atchison High School. She was born Norma Eileen Ware on March 9, 1928, in Atchison, the daughter of Archie Dutch and Rachel Emma (Chittenden) Ware. She was a 1946 graduate of Atchison High School. Eileen was a paraprofessional and was employed with USD 409 for 19 years. She served 10 years as the paraprofessional facilitator and a number of years on the State Planning Committee. Eileen was active in the Alliance of Educational Paraprofessionals in Kansas and served as president from 1987 to 1989. She was co-chairwoman on the Planning Committee for two years. She taught bridge at the Shepherd's Center and played with the same group for more than 40 years. Eileen also taught calligraphy in Effingham and Atchison and was an avid reader. She married Lester C. Murray, Jr. on June 9, 1949 in Atchison. He preceded her in death on Aug. 19, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her daughters, Gayle Glancy, Jannifer Crow and Norma Lou Murray, and her parents. Survivors include her daughters, Pamela and Timothy Stairs of Aurora, Colo., and Patricia and Wayne Strine of Effingham; a sister, Geneva Cox of St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
