Platz Deppe, 79, of Dyersville, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at Kinnic Long Term Nursing Home, River Falls, Wis. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, July 12, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Robert Gross officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Platz Deppe, 79, of Dyersville, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at Kinnic Long Term Nursing Home, River Falls, Wis. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 11, at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 5 p.m. She was born on March 21, 1931, in Dyersville, daughter of Gregor and Mathilda (Billmeyer) Tegeler. She married Herbert A. Platz on Feb. 14, 1949, in Dyersville; he preceded her in death in 1974. She later married Lawrence J. Deppe on July 5, 1996, in Dyersville; he preceded her in death in 2003. Norma and Herb ran Platz's Station together until his death, when the business was sold. She later worked at Darlene's Hallmark. Spending time with her grandchildren, baking cookies, gambling, dancing and listening to big-band music were some of Norma's favorite pastimes. Surviving are her children, Dave (Jill) Platz, of Broomfield, Colo., Bill (Todd) Platz, of River Falls, Wis., Diane (Dan) Lassiter, of Manchester, Ga., and Julie (Chad) Holt, of Clive; six stepchildren, Steve (Mary) Deppe, of Peosta, Pat (Joan) Deppe, Linda Fangmann, Becky (Don) Maiers and Bev (Dan) Clemen, all of Dyersville, and Sharon (Chris) Klaren, of Waterloo; 11 grandchildren; 18 stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; her stepmother, Delores Deutmeyer, of Dyersville; brothers and sisters, Bernice Holub, of Prairieburg, Lou Overman, Leona Gudenkauf, Elmer Tegeler, Herb Tegeler and Don (Cathy) Tegeler, all of Dyersville, Marcella (Fritz) Bries, of Epworth, and Mary Jean "Toots" (Hank) Westhoff, of New Vienna; and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Irene Fischel, of Edgewood, Beverly Tegeler, of Bellevue, William (Rosie) Deppe, of Manchester, Adella (Donald) Helle, of Dyersville, Bertha Klas, of New Vienna, Gladys Schemmel, of Monticello, Hilda (Melvin) Reittinger and Sr. Julitta Deppe, O.S.F., both of Dubuque. She also was preceded in death by her parents; stepgranddaughter, Brittany Clemen; siblings, Lucille, in infancy, Ray, Tony and Gib Tegeler and Helen Kramer; and several in-laws from the Platz, Tegeler and Deppe families.
