Disney, 75, of Maquoketa, died Thursday evening, May 13, 2010, at Jackson County Regional Health Center, Maquoketa. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, at First United Methodist Church, Maquoketa, with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Dadisman officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 17, at Carson & Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa. She was born on Dec. 2, 1934, in Radcliffe, daughter of Ben Topp and Clara (Kuhfus) Topp. She was a graduate of Radcliffe High School where she was an all-state basketball player. Norma played college basketball for Iowa Wesleyan College, earning a two-year business degree. She then earned a teaching certificate from the University of Iowa. She married Lynn L. Disney on June 26, 1955, in Radcliffe. Norma was as an elementary school teacher, teaching first at Keswick, Iowa, then Ainsworth and lastly in Maquoketa. She also had owned and operated "Disney's Shoe Barn" in Maquoketa for seven years. Norma was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Maquoketa, where she had served as treasurer and as president of the "Miriam" Circle. She also had been a past member of the Beta Phi Sigma Sorority. Norma enjoyed playing cards, attending church functions, visiting family and growing flowers, especially roses. She loved watching basketball and was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes. Surviving are her husband, Lynn Disney, of Maquoketa; children, Brian (Bonnie) Disney, of State Center, and Rhonda (Galyn) Gohlmann, of Grinnell; four grandchildren, Joseph, David and Teresa Disney and Trey Gohlmann; a brother, David (Carole) Topp, of Radcliffe; and sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Topp, of Hubbard, and Loretta (Don) Gardner, of Keota. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Richard; and a sister, Bernice.
