Born in Fayetteville, NC, January 22, 1924, she was a daughter of the late James A. Newberry and Emma McArthur Newberry. She was twice married. Read More	Mrs. Norma Lee Newberry Polston Coward, 87, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Dundee Manor in Bennettsville surrounded by her loving family. Born in Fayetteville, NC, January 22, 1924, she was a daughter of the late James A. Newberry and Emma McArthur Newberry. She was twice married. First, to the late Curtis Polston and then to the late Jimmy Coward. Mrs. Coward's passion was working for her Lord, nurturing flowers, watching comedy shows, singing, and writing poetry. She was a former employee of Marlboro General Hospital, Marnet and was a homemaker. She is survived by her son, Curtis Polston, Jr. (Shirley) of Bennettsville; daughters, Bettie Gissel (David) and Shirley P. Chewning (Tommy) both of Cheraw; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild; also a very special friend, Erlene Grisham of Bennettsville. Funeral services will be held 5:00 P.M. Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Burroughs Cooper Kiser Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Family visitation will be held 3:00P.M.-5:00P.M. at the funeral home. Mrs. Coward was preceded in death by her parents and spouses listed above; and a daughter, Angela Burdell. Memorials are suggested to Agape Hospice, PO Box 474, Bennettsville, SC 29512.
