Description	:	Norman Anvik, 77, of Stanton, ND went home to his Lord on Friday, April 22, 2016 at Sakakawea Medical Center, Hazen. Norman was the first of five sons born to Otto and Sylvia (Olsen) Anvik on June 21, 1938 in Sidney, MT. He grew up in various towns but considered the family farm near Buford, ND his home. Norman was the first of five sons born to Otto and Sylvia (Olsen) Anvik on June 21, 1938 in Sidney, MT. He grew up in various towns but considered the family farm near Buford, ND his home. Norman was baptized in the Christian faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Sidney on September 25, 1938 with his godparents, Orval and Christine Martin and John and Margaret Martin, in attendance. He was educated and graduated from Trenton High School on May 22, 1958 and entered the United States Army on November 3, 1961. During his time in the service Norman was a construction specialist and machine operator. He was honorably discharged on October 10, 1965 with a rank of SP5 E5. On August 25, 1995, Norman married his loving wife of 20 years, LaVelle Miller, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Stanton, of which he was a member for many years. Norman was an avid baseball and football fan, cheering for the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings. He loved golfing, hunting, fishing and greatly enjoyed camping and traveling with LaVelle. Norman is survived by his wife, LaVelle of Stanton; his son, Toby Anvik of Fargo; his daughter, Cindy (Seth) Manikowski of Horace, ND; four step-daughters, Judy Ruffatto of Santa Fe, NM, Valerie (Robert) Zarndt of Parker, CO, Pamela (Larry) Damm of Billings, MT and Cynthia (Jim) Kukuchka of Fairfield, CA; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Douglas (Laura) Anvik of Lisbon, ND, Roger Anvik of Beulah, ND and Dan (Karen) Anvik of Bismarck, ND; one sister-in-law, Sandy Anvik of Lonsdale, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jim, one nephew, Mike Anvik and one sister-in-law, Judy Anvik. Barbot Funeral Home
