He was born June 12, 1935 at Stanton, the son of Charles and Anna (Feiling) Kersten. He graduated Stanton High School in1954. Read More	Norman Charles Kersten, age 76 of Stanton, died Thursday June 23, 2011 at St. Joseph's Rehabilitation and Care Center – Norfolk. He was born June 12, 1935 at Stanton, the son of Charles and Anna (Feiling) Kersten. He graduated Stanton High School in1954. He entered the United States Army, serving October 24, 1957 to October 23, 1959. Norman married Rosemary Wiese on August 14, 1965 at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Leigh. The couple made their home in Stanton their entire married life. Norman worked as a mechanic in Stanton for a time and at the Stanton Hatchery. He worked on the Stanton County road crew as a Maintainer Operator until he retired. Norman bailed hay near Stanton for his customers for many years, taking care of his yard and he enjoyed bowling, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Stanton; member of Knights of Columbus – Norfolk and Stanton Chapters; member of Stanton V.F.W. Post #3602; Past member of Stanton Volunteer Fire Department. Norman is survived by his wife of 45 years, Rosemary Kersten of Stanton; 2 daughters Mary Kersten of Sioux Falls, SD; Carol and Rob Giddens of Manassas, VA; 5 Grandchildren; 2 Brothers Albert and Marlene Kersten of Fremont; Chalres and Sue Kersten of Omaha; 2 Sisters Alberta and Allan Ternus of Genoa, NE; Diane and Delaine Wendt of Leigh. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial Service Information: Memorial Services: St. Peter's Catholic Church – Stanton, NE Date: Monday June 27, 2011 – 10:30 A.M. Inurnment: Stanton Cemetery – Stanton, NE Military Rites: Stanton V.F.W. Post #3602 and American Legion Post #88 Visitation: 7:30 P.M.
