He was born March 29, 1912, in Ottumwa to William and Lillian Cassill Hendricks. He married Eileen Elsensohn on Sept. 11, 1935, in Lancaster, Missouri. A lifelong resident of Ottumwa, he was an employee of John Deere Ottumwa Works for 28 years, retiring from the experimental department in 1974. He served with the U.S. Navy for 8 1/2 years, three of those during WWII. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 74, O.B. Nelson Post 3 of the American Legion and Eagles Aerie 114. He is survived by his wife. He was preceded in death by his parents;a sistr, Marjorie Newville; and a brother, William Hendricks. The service will be at 1:30pm Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, the Rev. Vern Elder officiating. Burial will be in the Shaul Cemetery. O.B. Nelson Post 3 of the American Legion will be in charge of military services at the grave. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 pm Tuesday.
