Shetley, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Horizons Care Center in Eckert, Colorado. He was 94 years old. A memorial service will be held 10:00 am, Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the Delta United Methodist Church in Delta, Colorado. Norman spent his early years in Missouri until him and his family moved to Olathe, Colorado. Norman graduated from Olathe High School and went on to further his education at Western State College. Norman later went on to join the United States Army where he proudly served his country in WWII and received a Bronze Star. On August 7, 1946 Norman married the love of his life, Roberta Jean in Los Angeles, California. To this union three sons were born. The couple had the honor of sharing 63 years of love and marriage before Roberta passed in 2010. Norman work as a teacher for a number a years before being employed with the State of Colorado Unemployment for 28years. He enjoyed woodworking, cooking, traveling to the mountains, fishing, hunting, storytelling, and even hosted a program for Delta County Schools about his experiences as a WWII veteran. Norman is survived by his sons, Randy Shetley and wife Vickey, Mark Shetley and nieces Joyce, Debbie, Elissa and Julia. Norman was preceded in death by his wife Roberta, son Bruce, sister Ruth Anderson, a granddaughter Angie, a nephew Gary and his parents. The family suggests that memorial contributions made in Norman’s name be made to HopeWest Hospice P.O. Box 24 Delta, CO 81416.
