Description	:	Norman "Chubb" Nelsen was born April 24, 1927, to Florence Grace (Briles) and Lawrence Nels Nelsen on a farm in Adair County near Anita. He died June 22, 2007, at the age of 80 years and two months at Corning Nursing and Rehab in Corning, where he had been a resident for four days. Chubb attended country schools in Adams County and Prescott High School. He enlisted in the Army before the age of 18 and served in Germany during World War II. Read More	Norman "Chubb" Nelsen was born April 24, 1927, to Florence Grace (Briles) and Lawrence Nels Nelsen on a farm in Adair County near Anita. He died June 22, 2007, at the age of 80 years and two months at Corning Nursing and Rehab in Corning, where he had been a resident for four days. Chubb attended country schools in Adams County and Prescott High School. He enlisted in the Army before the age of 18 and served in Germany during World War II. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Chubb returned to Prescott where he finished high school graduating in 1948. On August 8, 1948 Chubb married Neva Louise Gourd. The family lived briefly in California before returning to the Prescott and Corning area. He was employed by the railroad and State Highway Commission prior to beginning his own salvage and scrap iron business in Prescott and Corning. He was a collector at heart and was known for his extensive hubcap collection and obtained many antiques. Chubb loved music and was a musician playing the trumpet and harmonica. He had a beautiful singing voice, and performed for family and friends. Chubb was a former member of the American Legion. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved his family above all else. He was preceded in death by his father Lawrence in 1940 and his mother Florence in 1985. Chubb is survived by his wife Neva Nelsen of Corning; daughter Lorita Ann Riley of Prescott; sister Marilyn (husband Bob) Getty of Susanville, Calif.; granddaughter Nicole (husband Kent) Cooney of Corning; grandson Jesse (wife Tammy) Riley of Prescott; great-grandchildren Emily Riley and Matthew Riley; step-great-granddaughter Jennifer (husband Donald) Shires; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
