Description	:	Son of Thomas W. "Tom" Winnett and Christian (Martha/Kettie/Becky) (Phillips) Winnett Married Cassandra Susanah Fort Hart on 29 April 1858. At the onset of the Civil War, unlike most in that area he remained loyal to the United States of America. He enlisted into the 5th Tennessee Federal Cavalry unit, which was mustered on 15 July 1862 at Murfreesboro and Carthage. Served in both Co. B and G. Initially was stationed in Nashville, but then this regiment went all over the Tennessee area, seeing battle many times. One of the most well known engagements was Stone's River.
