Description	:	Services for Norman H. Bartling, 68, of Fremont who died August 17, 1991 at Fremont will be 2 pm Wednesday, August 21 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. Rev. Rodney Meske of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Rev. Donald Levenhagen of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate. Bartling’s brother, Allard will be buried during the same services. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 20 from 9am to 9pm at Ludvigson Mortuary in Fremont. Norman H. Bartling was born May 28, 1923 on the family farm near Herman to H.P. and Ida L. Wolf Bartling. He was baptized in 1923 and was confirmed in 1937 at Immanuel Lutheran Church at rural Hooper. He farmed on the family farm until entering the Army in February, 1946. He served with the 745th Engineer Company. After he was discharged in March, 1947, he returned to the family farm where he lived until moving to Fremont in February, 1988. In addition to farming, he was also a Conklin distributor for 19 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont and formerly was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Lutheran Laymen’s League, was active in the AAL Lamplighters for 13 years and in the Farm Bureau of Washington County for many years. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10535 of Winslow/Hooper and the American Legion Post No. 196 of Uehling. He married Alice Fischer September 29, 1948 at the former St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Winslow. He is survived by his wife, Alice; three daughters, Kathryn “Kitty” (Mrs. Larry) Matzen of Omaha, Betty (Mrs. Rod) Denison of Blair and Yvonne “Ivy” (Mrs. John) Oldefest of Edmond, Oklahoma; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Showier of Omaha and a brother, Victor of Hastings. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Trinity Lutheran Church.
